Overcomers Program

Overcomers Program

Overcomers is a program that has all the essential ingredients that are needed to successfully rebuild lives that have been ruined by life controlling addictions. The way to deal with life controlling problems is a Christ centered group support program.

Why does the Overcomers program work?

Overcomers clearly teaches that JESUS is the 'HIGHER POWER':

  • It teaches Bible principals that will give us effective skills to overCome controlling problems.
  • It is an easy to understand, daily program, that helps us deal with failures and regain our self-respect and take control of our future!
  • The OverComers program helps:
    • Break the destructive emotional and physical cycles.
    • Stop the crisis syndrome.
    • Overcome dependency.
    • Understand God's forgiveness.
    • Become the person he/she always knew that they could be.

What is the addictive cycle?

As we lose more and more of ourselves to our addiction, our pleasure decreases.

  • Moments of relief are replaced by a lingering shame. We feel guilty for having a habit socially unacceptable.
  • We are afraid of being discovered.
  • We resolve to quit, or to make amends for our failure, hoping it will lessen our feelings of guilt and shame. But it never does!
  • We temporarily sweep our lives clean of the addiction and it's unpleasant feelings, but nothing has replaced it. As a result, we are more acutely aware of our emptiness.
  • Feelings of disillusionment, entitlement, anger and despair set in, and we begin to demand our relief. OUR DEMANDS for relief draw us back into the familiar arms of our habits.

This cycle is repeated again with deepening levels of dissatisfaction, disillusionment, despair, and enslavement.

Overcomers 12 Steps

Step 01: I admit that I am powerless over life controlling addictions and that my life is unmanageable.
Step 02: I have come to believe that God, the source of all power, can and will restore me to sanity and freedom from addictions.
Step 03: I make a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God through Jesus Christ.
Step 04: I make a searching and fearless daily inspection of my character defects.
Step 05: I admit to God, to myself and to another person the exact nature of my character defects.
Step 06: I am ready for God to remove all of my character defects.
Step 07: I humbly ask God to place positive character qualities in me.
Step 08: I make a list of all people I have harmed and become willing to make amends.
Step 09: I make direct amends to such people, except when to do so would injure them or others.
Step 10: I continue to practice daily what I have learned.
Step 11: I seek through prayer and meditation to strengthen my relationship with God.
Step 12: I determine to take this message of God's peace and freedom from addictions to others.
